Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Chambertin-Clos De Bèze Grand Cru 2016

Sold out

This is a sensational offering from the domaine. It is taught nose with bright red and black fruits with some mineral notes. The fruit on the palate is almost linear and the new oak from ageing can be detected but as the wine is built to last I don't see it as a problem. It will dissipate over the coming 5 years (from 2020) when it will enter its drinking window that will continue for another decade or two if properly cellared. This is an exceptional bottle of wine that is a candidate for drinking on your knees!!

Although vines were first planted here as early as 630AD by the monks of the Bèze abbey, Drouhin-Laroze's 1.5 hectares of Chambertin-Clos De Bèze was planted in 1949. In his book "Le Vin De Bourgogne" of 1920, Camille Rodier noted that Chambertin-Clos De Bèze contained all of the qualities of great Burgundy. It's nice to see that some things never change.
