Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur 2011 has a deep and lively cherry red colour, reflecting the predominance of mostly black and stewed fruit on the nose. Its ripe and linear tannins help to convey the sweetness of the fruit to the palate. Notes of oak spice, vanilla and Morello cherry add depth and complexity. This is a precise wine with a beautifully silky texture.

The Clos Prieur vineyard was originally the property of the monks of Cluny Abbey (the Prieuré De Cluny). Just under 2 hectares in size, Drouhin-Laroze owns 0.3ha that it first planted in 1954. Situated to the south of Gevrey, this east-facing, premier cru vineyard neighbours Mazis-Chambertin to the west and Chapelle-Chambertin to the south. As with all of the domaine's premiers crus, this Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur was matured in 40% new oak and the balance was second fill barrels.

From Neal Martin writing on Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
A strikingly fresh exuberant red berry fruit nose leads to delicious, round and agreeable medium weight flavours that possess good zip on the balanced, clean and moderately complex finish that delivers fine persistence. Drink 2018+. 89-91 Points
