"The 2013 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a much more austere bouquet than the Criots: stubborn and standoffish at the moment. The palate is well balanced with light peach, tangerine and lemon curd notes, the new oak (one-third) nicely integrated and rounding out the tensile finish that displays superb salinity. The more this stays in the glass, the better it becomes. Superb." 94 Points. Neal Martin, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate.

Bâtard-Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet are two grands crus which are equally shared by the two villages of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Bâtard-Montrachet tends to be more powerful and mineral in its youth and has tremendous ageing potential. As it matures, it develops honey-like qualities, with spice and mineral notes, and becoming very rich and long on the finish. In most vintages, particularly with wines from a producer of the calibre of Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard, Bâtard-Montrachet can age for 15 years or more with proper cellaring.
