Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2017

"Wafting from the glass with a complex bouquet of vine blossom, acacia honey, mandarin oil, ripe pears and hazelnuts, the 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is full-bodied, unctuous and dense, with a blockier, more foursquare profile than the lavishly expansive Criots, with more depth and concentration too, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish. This is quintessential Bâtard. William Kelley, "The Wine Advocate

Bâtard-Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet are two grands crus which are equally shared by the two villages of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Bâtard-Montrachet tends to be more powerful and mineral in its youth and has tremendous ageing potential. As it matures, it develops honey-like qualities, with spice and mineral notes, and becoming very rich and long on the finish. In most vintages, particularly with wines from a producer of the calibre of Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard, Bâtard-Montrachet can age for 15 years or more with proper cellaring.
