Domaine Tollot-Beaut Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Fournières 2012

Domaine Tollot-Beaut Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Fournieres shows a little vanilla oak on the nose, and there is plenty of red fruit behind to back it up. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry, showing quite a bit of skin maceration that lends density. The sappy, ripe tannins contribute towards the persistency of the mineral-influenced finish. This is a sophisticated Aloxe-Corton, intense yet refined.

On the border with Corton itself, the soil of Les Fournières may not supply the sheer palate weight of its near grand cru neighbour, but the flavour intensity wants for nothing. Just starting to drink, but with a decent decade ahead of it, this is as good as Aloxe-Corton gets and it is a benchmark Domaine Tollot-Beaut red - brimming with hedgerow fruit.
