A pale, clear, straw yellow colour characterises the Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg. Rich aromas of fruit, especially ripe pear, along with some sage and spice notes are all discernible on the complex nose. Elegance and harmony dominate on the palate, the fresh acidity of the steel-aged portion blended with the creamy fullness and concentration of the oak-aged portion makes this Pinot Grigio particularly moreish. The long, mouthwatering finish is minerally and fresh.

Grown exclusively on Elena Walch’s Castel Ringberg estate, the south-facing hillside lies above the picturesque Lake of Caldaro at an altitude of 1150 feet. The soils here are of glacial origin and consist of chalk and clay.

Elena Walch ferments most of this Pinot Grigio in stainless steel tanks, but 15% of it is fermented in French oak barriques and it is allowed to experience a partial malolactic fermentation to add extra richness. The blending of the two wines occurs shortly before bottling, in the springtime of the year following the harvest.
