This Giuseppe Mascarello Barbera d'Alba was grown in the family’s Santo Stefano vineyard, located in the Perno commune of the village of Monforte d'Alba. Owned by the Mascarello family since 1989, the vineyard is oriented to the south-west and is located at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. The Santo Stefano hill has clay and sandy soils, containing limestone, brown clay and grey sand of marine origin, and it is planted with Nebbiolo and Dolcetto as well as with Barbera. Mascarello harvested the grapes in early October and vinified them in a traditional style with a fermentation that lasted around 15 days.
