Les Pagodes De Cos 2017, Saint-Estèphe

£60.26

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Les Pagodes de Cos sashays out of the glass with youthful, presumptuous notes of Black Forest cake, raspberry preserves, cassis and spice cake with nuances of lavender, chocolate box, anise and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the palate has wonderful elegance and precision, with a very finely grained frame and seamless freshness supporting the soft-spoken red and black fruits, finishing with a quiet intensity.92 points Robert Parker

Les Pagodes De Cos is, strictly speaking, Château Cos D’Estournel’s second wine. The vines that produce it will eventually be used for the Grand Vin which is an 1855 Grand Cru Classé. They are grown on the same terroir and are treated in the same way, they are simply younger vines and their roots have yet to grow to their full depth in the gravelly soil.
