We love the ever popular Cabernet Sauvignon for its dark, blackcurrant fruit and for its plentiful, chewy tannins. Although it's a native of the Bordeaux region of France, Cabernet Sauvignon has been transplanted to most of the world's wine producing regions and it has thrived and prospered. The warmer climates of new world countries produce riper, fuller bodied wines than the more firmly structured European versions of Cabernet, and the three wines in this selection show a range of the different styles available.
Slap a steak on the grill and get tasting! For our less carnivorous customers, a rich mushroom ragout or aubergine braised with black beans make a fine alternative.
Hollick's Cabernet Sauvignon is an archetypal South Australian example, packed with rich bramble and blackcurrant fruit, well judged new oak and a touch of mintiness so typical of classic Coonawarra Cabernet. Argentina's Bodega Toneles proves that Australia isn't the only country that can produce blockbuster reds. Its Tonel 46 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon highlights the elegance of grapes grown at high altitudes along with the richness of perfectly ripe fruit and new oak. Don't let the name of The Stellenbosch Reserve Ou Hoofgebou put you off. This South African Cabernet Sauvignon balances the ripeness of new world fruit with the elegance of old world structure - it's everything you want from a Bordeaux but so rarely manage to find!
This six bottle selection contains two bottles of each of these wines, and the twelve bottle selection contains four bottles of each.
