Petits Châteaux Red Bordeaux Mixed Case
Free Delivery with Orders over £75
Although Bordeaux produces all three colours of wine, as well as sparkling and sweet wines, it is red wines that the region is probably best known for. The foundation of this reputation and the reason for the worldwide appeal of red Bordeaux is the fruity but structured, food friendly wines of the so called petits châteaux. These small estates work hard to produce high quality and beautifully typical wines at prices that won't break the bank. We've put together a selection of some of our favourites, so grill yourself a steak or roast a rib of beef and explore the joys of red Bordeaux for yourself.
In this case:
Château Les Chaumes - 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and is carefully oaked with only 10% new wood used each year.
Château Pontet Plaisance - Grand Cru St Emilion - a blend Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this is medium bodied with notes of blackberry, cassis and toasty oak.
Château Haut-Colombier, Premières Côtes De Blaye - ample and fleshy with complex tannins, Haut-Colombier is also capable of ageing for up to decade.
Château Du Vieux Montpezat, Castillon Côtes De Bordeaux - close to Saint-Émilion both geographically and stylistically, yet for some reason Castillon Côtes De Bordeaux is little known in the UK. A delicious wine with a generous palate and fine-grained tannins.
Chateau Caronne St Gemme - 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, grown on deep gravelly soil close to Saint-Julien.
Vieux Château Perey, Saint-Émilion - classically framed Saint-Émilion, with plenty of ripe Merlot fruit aromas and flavours.
The 6 bottle case contains one bottle of each wine; the 12 bottle case contains two bottles of each wine.
