Some decent drinking tackle!
Sometimes, you just don't know what you want to drink. You want something decent that doesn't cost a fortune but haven't got a clue as to what, and when you've been shopping you just bought to the usual suspects so nothing in the rack to inspire you. Well here we've selected 6 white wines that have proved to be our clients favourites over the years and we thought you could try them to check us out. There's good savings here too so you'll get terrific value while you try them.
To open up with, the Macon Peronne from Domaine du Bicheron is very much a favourite. It's fresh, finely fruited and mineral and is most certainly very refreshing both with and without food. Next is the Tin Cottage Sauvignon Blanc from Bladen Wines in Marlborough. This packs a real Sauvignon Punch, loads of gooseberry fruit together with some more tropical notes. Good acidity too so it's really refreshing to just sit and sip (or gulp depending on your style!). Then from Spain we have a top class Albarino produced by Terre de Asorei. Produced in the cooler climate part of Spain in Rias Baixas, this delicious wine has delicious ripe fruit flavours, refreshing acidity and a saline finish. Try it either by itself or lend it a sardine and it will jump out of the glass! Soave Classico Cimalta from Corte Adami is next in line. Its very purity and freshness makes the palate come alive. Terrific wine and very under-rated making it offer great value. Gros Manseng/Sauvignon from Domaine Horgelus is not something you'd normally come across but this fresh and extremely fruity Gascogne white really brings the palate alive. The Sauvignon part is very evident but the Gros Manseng really turns up at the party with good depth of fruit that is more rounded and mouthfilling. Lastly there's the Chablis of the south - Picpoul de Pinet from Floris Lemstra at Vignobles Canet. Fresh, crisp and mineral with great staying power on the palate.
All of these wines are amongst the most popular purchases by our clients, so they can't all be wrong. Give them a try for yourself and enjoy!
