Tenuta La Marchesa Gavi Etichetta Oro has an enticing bouquet of crisp apple and spring blossom leads into a full, generous and complex palate thanks to the lengthy period it spent resting on its lees. Apple, pear and white flower flavours balance the fresh acidity and touch of spice, and the percentage of oak ageing has served to round off any sharp corners rather than asserting any character of its own.

As with its white label sibling, this Etichetta Oro (gold label) Gavi is made entirely from estate-grown Cortese but not all of it was fermented in stainless steel. 10% of the grapes were fermented in large, old oak barrels and it was all aged on its lees for a longer period of 6 months to develop greater complexity and extra weight. No sulphur products were added during crushing or vinification. Only 5,000 bottles were made and without a doubt it is as fine as it is scarce.
