The Stellenbosch Reserve Moederkerk Chardonnay is round, creamy and bold yet not over blown like so many other Chardonnays. It is the colour of fresh straw, with aromas of fresh citrus, lime and hints of lemon zest plus elegant pineapple notes that support the initial tropical impression. Deliciously balanced Stellenbosch Chardonnay on the palate, with a great follow through of citrus and pineapple from the nose. There are undertones of guava and papaya which add to the creamy style of the wine. This is a complex Chardonnay with a good balance of fresh acidity and creamy roundness, and an amazingly elegant finish.

Arguably Stellenbosch's most beautiful church, the Moederkerk is a clean, white, towering example of neo-Gothic architecture. It was completed in 1863 under the supervision and vision of architect, Carl Otto Hager.

Stellenbosch has a warm, dry growing season and the different soil types and climatic conditions of the Devon Valley and the Helderberg allow for warmer fruit flavours to develop whilst adding complexity to the wine. Half of this Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel tanks and the other half in French oak barrels, 15% new. The portions of wine were then matured separately for 6 months before being blended just prior to bottling.
