Weingut Kunstler Hochheimer Holle Erstes Gewachs Riesling has a lime green colour and offers fresh and precise, almost smokey, aromas of white peach and grapefruit. This is a remarkable pure and saline Riesling that is superbly concentrated, dense and intense on the palate. It neither loses its precision nor its piquancy and ends with an impressively aromatic finish and length. Although labelled as Trocken (dry), there is a small amount of residual sugar at 6.6 grams per litre, which allows the fruit to burst from the wine. Still a baby, this is surely a Rheingau Riesling you should consider buying.

The name Hölle can be literally translated as "hell", deriving from the middle German "Halde". This means a steep hill and has nothing to do with an inferno! The vineyard is to the east of Hochheim towards the River Main and the vines, which are from 40 to 50 years of age, are grown on heavy clay soil giving the wines an impressive richness.
