The name of Rustenberg's Peter Barlow Cabernet Sauvignon pays tribute to Peter Barlow, the man who recognised the potential of Rustenberg when he purchased the farm in 1941. He reunited the previously divided property, restored its buildings and invested in its potential to make world class wines. The oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on the estate is named the Peter Barlow block, and it consistently produces powerful, long-lived wines that are given the best possible treatment in the cellar. Peter's family now continues his legacy, producing this highly collected, rich and robust Cabernet Sauvignon in his memory.

From Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
The 2009 Rustenberg Peter Barlow Cabernet Sauvignon undergoes a fortnight’s skin maceration with malolactic in barrel, then aged for 24 months in wood, of which 64% is new and the rest second and third fill. It has a potent bouquet of red cherries, raspberry, cigar box and leather that is nicely defined, perhaps a little old school. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft, sensual opening. The tannins feel saturated and render this a nubile Cabernet with a delicate touch of spice on the finish. Excellent. Drink now-2020. 92 Points
